Bonegnawer sat on a fallen log stripping the last bit of flesh from his recent meal, a traveller who'd made the mistake of travelling alone. Of course, he'd had to split the meal. Ra'zac weren't social creatures, but there were so few of them now, there really was no choice but cooperation.

Nightshrieker found the meal inadequate, just like the others which came far too rarely of late. "This one is scrawny, like the others... We should not have to live off such scraps."

"Agreed, but the humans grow ever more careful of us...what other option do we have?"

"You have seen the new riders about? They are careless. Arrogant. We should show them why the Ra'zac are feared."
