The Backstory

The Dragon Riders have risen again. 26 eggs set aside for the next generation of riders, have become 15 new riders, 8 of whom have gone on to form a new council of Riders. Two Elves, Two Humans, Two Dwarves, and Two Urgals...Along with the last of the old riders, and first of the new, Eragon Shadeslayer. 11 eggs remain from the last generation...and 20 more wait to be delivered to the riders. 100 years have passed in near peace, but unease is stirring. A rebellion of sorts is stirring, but a passive one. Once again subject to the oversight of the Riders, Humans, Dwarves, and Urgals alike grow unsettled. Civilians, unhappy with feeling like ants ruled by gods, seek to correct the imbalance of power. Some turn to magic, but few have the talent, so many more have begun to turn toward sorcery.

Outright resistance is rare, it merely makes the civilians content to know they are not powerless, but their dabbling in sorcery results in more shades than ever seen before.

Meanwhile, Ra'zac attempt to reassert themselves into the world, causing much debate among nonhumans,some few of whom claim that the Ra'zac cannot help how they evolved, or that they are built to eat humans, and their eradication would be an unjustified genocide.
